WHAT IS AWANA?
AWANA is a worldwide ministry focused on Bible-based evangelism and discipleship of children from ages 2-18.  For over 60 years, AWANA has purposed to reach kids, equip leaders and change the world. With approximately 400,000 leaders serving 3.7 million children in over 120 countries, AWANA truly has a front row seat to discipling our next generations.  AWANA is an acronym for Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.

WHEN DOES AWANA MEET?
AWANA at Sanctuary Bible Church serves children from 3 years old to 5th grade on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm.  Starting August 28th 2018 and wrapping the year up in May of 2020. Our club does follow the break schedule of the Carmel Unified School District. While the club begins at 6:30, we highly encourage you to have dinner with us. Each week an incredible meal is served from 5:30PM to 6:20PM. The cost is $5 for adults $3 for children with a maximum cap Of $20 per family (great deal for large families).

WHAT TYPICALLY HAPPENS AT AWANA NIGHT?

While at AWANA, kids engage with adults called to disciple, memorize Scripture, learn Bible truths, play awesome games with their friends and grow to love Christ more!  Throughout the evening, kids rotate through a large group teaching time, small group handbook/discipleship times and game time.

AWANA is an age-divided program, with three different clubs.

Cubbies
3-4 year olds (the 2 years before kindergarten)
Cubbies is built on two premises; young children can and should receive spiritual training, and home is the primary place for spiritual training. Games, puppets, crafts, awards, snacks and other activities make Cubbies a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand. Must be 3 years old by September 1st and potty-trained)
Sparks
Kindergarten-2nd grade

Sparks meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement that includes, Bible teaching, singing, awards, small group interaction and completion of Bible-based lessons, and games that appeal to kids of all skill levels.

Truth and Training (T&T)
3rd-5th grade

T&T weekly meetings are divided into three segments. Children have gut-busting, team-oriented fun in game time; sing, hear a Bible message and receive awards in large group time and learn and recite Bible truths in handbook time.

WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW
AWANA, like our other family ministries, exists to complement your role as a parent. Your encouragement, help with handbook work and presence at special events will ensure the best experience for your child in the Awana clubs. Also, each week kids are able to receive awards based on their individual progress through their handbooks. The awards are given out each week at about 7:50pm. We would LOVE to have parents join their kids during this time.

HOW DOES REGISTRATION WORK?
Registration begins the first night of AWANA. You can print out the registration form and bring it with you when you drop off your child. One form per child please.

Special activities, expectations and other details are in the AWANA Handbook.
